Head Housekeeper

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the appropriate departments of the hotel to Obtain and disseminate all relevant information concerning arriving guests and with his team prepare guests’ stays meticulously.
  • Dealing with suppliers of linen, cleaning materials and guest supplies, such as soap, shampoo, etc
  • Ensuring lost property is kept safely and returned to its owner
  • Possibly overseeing supervisors and linen room and cleaning supplies staff
  • Overseeing stock takes, budgets and other paperwork, such as maintenance reports and safety audits
  • Co-ordinate general deep cleaning program i.e.: shampoo, curtain, cleaning of bedspreads, tiles, marbles, wooden… special care.
  • Aware of the communication passed in the weekly executive and sales meetings as well as the General Manager’s briefings with Front Office and Housekeeping for follow up.
  • Deal with all guests’ queries and complaints swiftly and efficiently.
  • With the Maintenance Manager of the hotel, set-up and monitor a proper preventive maintenance programme in order to ensure that the grounds, buildings and equipment and their dependencies are always well maintained and in excellent running order at all times.
  • Through proper communication ensure that staff members have all the information they require in order to provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Constantly monitor staff morale to ensure that the personnel are kept in an appropriate state of discipline, motivation and commitment to the objectives of the organization at all times.
  • Maintain an inventory of all housekeeping materials and ensure that they are stored properly in order to prevent any damage or wastage.
  • Ensure all activity assigned is completed as per schedule and deadlines and as per priority assigned to the job. Multi-tasking to ensure several activities is balanced.
  • Adhere to fire alarm or any emergency statutory procedures in the event of fire.
  • Handle guest/ customer calls received at the department and record all messages / reservation requests/ queries and assign to appropriate housekeeping team member. Take responsibility to ensure action is taken wherever possible.
  • Conduct his/her duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the hotel’s policies and procedures, brand standards and code of conduct, ensuring that a high level of service is maintained.
